TSMC's 2nm Chip Ready for iPhone 18 Pro
TSMC's 2nm chip yield has reached 60%, and iPhone 18 Pro is expected to be launched for the first time
According to Taiwanese supply chain sources, the trial production results of TSMC's 2nm chip technology were better than expected, with a yield rate of over 60%. From this perspective, TSMC is expected to start mass production of 2nm in 2025 and use it in the iPhone 18 Pro model in 2026.
According to reports, TSMC is currently conducting risk trial production of 2nm chips at its Baoshan factory in Hsinchu, northern Taiwan. The factory has implemented a new nano chip architecture that is expected to make significant progress compared to the current 3nm FinFET process. There are also reports that TSMC plans to transfer this production experience to its Kaohsiung factory for large-scale production.
Analysis suggests that Apple's iPhone 18 Pro model in 2026 will be specifically manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process chip and equipped with 12GB of RAM. However, due to cost considerations, the standard version of iPhone 18 will continue to use 3nm process chips.
Thanks to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, many customers have shown interest in 2nm chips, and TSMC has also stated that it has taken note of the industry's demand and will increase its scale production as soon as possible.
